Yes! Citizens traveling with passports from Australia, Canada, and the United States visiting Brazil for tourism and business will be subject to visa requirements for entry into Brazilian territory starting from April 10th, 2025.

These citizens can require e-Visas through the portal https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/. The process is easy, and quick and if the requirements mentioned below are met, in a few days the applicant will receive the e-Visa via e-mail.

Our fishing season on the Urubaxi runs from August to December when the river experiences its lowest water levels of the year. During this time, the majority of the flooded jungle dries up and peacock bass become concentrated in just 2-3% of their usual habitat. This puts them within casting range for us and gives us a realistic chance to target them.

The Amazon can get quite hot, with mid-day temperatures ranging from 85°F to 95°F and humidity between 80% and 90%.

Given the intense sun and high humidity, it's extremely important to stay hydrated and protect yourself from sun exposure. At night, temperatures drop to a more comfortable 70°F to 75°F.

While you'll be fishing in the dry season, occasional rain showers are likely, so bring light rain jackets and pants.

Our trip is all-inclusive—covering all food, drinks, lodging, and charter flights. The trip officially ends when we arrive back in Manaus after we complete the fishing portion of our trip.

  • Lodging
  • Authentic Brazilian food
  • Unlimited beer, wine, and mixed drinks. We have a bartender on the boat making classic Brazilian cocktails all week.
  • Charter flight from Manaus to Santa Isabel

We have a comprehensive list of what to bring on Amazon fishing trips. We ensure you have everything you need for a successful fishing trip in the Amazon with us.

Yes! We've got you covered. We work with you to ensure every component of your trip goes as smoothly as possible. We coordinate all flights, shuttles, hotels, and logistics.

The Kallua II offers impressive internet connectivity while deep in the jungle, even in areas where traditional service is unavailable.

The Kallua II utilizes Starlink and you will enjoy reliable, high-speed internet wherever you go while onboard the main vessel.

This removes the need for an expensive satellite phone to stay in touch with family.

Although not required, we strongly recommend all guests secure insurance that covers medical contingencies while abroad and Cancel for Any Reason travel insurance (CFAR policy).

Due to the limited flight options, missing your initial flight to Manaus can significantly impact your ability to make the trip.

Our operation covers your fishing license as part of the agreement with the local native tribes that enforce the Urubaxi.

Our expeditions are 99% catch and release to help protect these fisheries. On occasion, the guides may choose to keep a fish or two for the dinner table back on the boat. One rule that the guides stick by is that they do not keep any peacock bass at all.

Due to our strong relationships with the native villages on the Urubaxi, we have exclusive access to the entire river. This gives us a unique advantage over other operators who are all competing for the same spots in other rivers.

We highly recommend contacting your credit card company to request a new chip-enabled card for your travels in Brazil and internationally.

Many countries are transitioning to chip cards, which offer enhanced security and are less susceptible to fraud. Older magnetic stripe cards are increasingly being declined or failing to work, which can leave travelers in a difficult situation.

No matter what type of credit card you use, make sure to call your credit card issuer using the customer service number on the back of the card to inform them of your international travel plans.

The exchange rate is approximately 5 Brazilian Reais (R$) for each U.S. dollar. In Brazil, only dollar bills that are in pristine or new condition are accepted; those with any marks or damage may not be accepted.

Credit cards are widely accepted, but we recommend that anglers bring cash for tips and small souvenir-related purchases while in Manaus.

Once you arrive in Brazil, you have a few options for obtaining Brazilian Reais:

  • Use the ATM located near the hotel.
  • Exchange USD for Reais at the hotel concierge.

It is natural to have concerns when traveling regarding mosquitoes and diseases like Malaria, Zika, or Yellow Fever.

Thankfully, The Urubaxi River pH and acidity levels prevent mosquito larvae from thriving. Although mosquitoes may be common in other operations, they are seldom encountered on our trips.

Since almost all of your time will be spent on the river, aboard our air-conditioned ship, or near the riverbank, malaria medication, Yellow Fever immunization, and mosquito repellent are not required.

Equipment lost or neglectfully broken will be charged at replacement value.

Freshwater Trips

We run 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 hour trips.

  • Our four hour trip (½ day) is one of our most popular trips but can often feel like just a “taste” test for an experienced angler.
  • I like to suggest our 6 hour trips - with this length you have enough time to get farther away from the boat ramp and put a lot of fish in the boat.
  • Our 8 hour (Full Day) trip is for the hardcore anglers. This trip length allows us to exhaust all of our options in finding the fish.
  •

We have comprehensive packing lists for our trips to ensure you have everything you need for a successful day on the water with us, but a basic checklist would be the following:

  •  Freshwater fishing license - this can be purchased at https://www.gooutdoorsflorida.com
  •  Comfortable Clothing (I have all of the below for sale as well)
    • UPF 50 Long Sleeve Hooded T-Shirts are best
    • Hat and buff for sun protection
  • Polarized sunglasses
  • Any food you want to eat during the trip.
  • Any drinks you would like to have other than water.
  • Sunscreen - please apply before walking onboard, spray is NOT preferred for additional application through the day.
  •

What is included in the trip?

  • All rods, reels, and necessary fishing tackle.
  • All safety equipment.
  • A cooler with cold water and ice.

We require a 25% deposit for all of our freshwater trips. For additional information regarding booking, please see our cancellation policy below.

We understand life happens so we will do our best to work with changes in your schedule. All bookings require a non-refundable 25% deposit to secure the date. All trips are weather permitting and will be up to the Captain's discretion if the trip needs to be rescheduled. Any cancellations by the customer within 14 days of the booking date will result in a charge of the full balance of the trip. Requests to change a trip date within 14 days of the booking date will be considered a cancellation and charged accordingly. Requests to change a trip date prior to this 14 day period are subject to availability and may not always be accommodated.

We’re very flexible as long as it's done within reason and covered by our policy. Rescheduling is subject to availability and may not be accommodated.

Contact us asap if you need to change your dates.

We don’t mind if you drink responsibly but we do not allow hard liquor or glass bottles on our trips. The trip will end early and the remaining balance will be charged if one of our captains deem that drinking has jeopardized the safety of anyone on the boat.

We pride ourselves on our versatility, and we fish at over three dozen different boat ramps over the course of the year. With this in mind, we will be unable to tell you where we will be fishing in advance.  Generally we will start at 7 or 8 AM and we are happy to accommodate our fishing to a boat ramp as close to where you are staying as possible.

Yes you do! You will need a “non resident” or “resident” freshwater fishing license. You can purchas this license at https://www.gooutdoorsflorida.com. Children under 16 years old do not need a license for our trips.

One of the coolest things about South Florida is that you never know what you are going to catch. Some common species are peacock bass, largemouth bass, bullseye snakehead, clown knifefish, hybrid striped bass, bowfin, mayan cichlid, and tiger oscar. Some lesser common species include snook, tarpon, jaguar guapote, and pacu.

Tiger Oscars and Mayan Cichlid are tasty fish and an active problem in our waterways. We can catch and keep as many of these fish as you would like.

Peacocks are not typically kept in Florida although they are quite popular to eat in their native range in the Amazon. Our freshwater urban waterways have a naturally high amount of mercury and runoff present. Most people choose to catch and release them because of these reasons.

We allow anglers to keep a single peacock bass or bullseye snakehead if you would like to try one. Trophy sized fish will always be released. We strongly encourage catch and release on our trips but keeping a legal fish for the dinner plate is 100% up to you.

We do not have access to a filet table with the small boat ramps that we fish as a primarily catch and release operation. You can keep a fish or two to bring home that you catch but we will not be able to process them at the boat ramp for you.

The Captain always has the final call on the weather. If conditions are less than ideal for the scheduled trip we will first offer a different location or style of trip. If the weather forces us to cancel you will be given the chance to reschedule your trip or receive a refund on your deposit.

Tips are not mandatory but they are greatly appreciated. The customary gratuity for captains is 15%-20% of the trip rate.

Equipment lost or neglectfully broken will be charged at replacement value.

Saltwater Trips

We run 4, 6, and 8 hour trips.

  • Our four hour trip (½ day) is a great way to experience saltwater but it will often times feel rushed. This is still plenty of time to have opportunities at quality fish but limits some of the locations that we will choose to go to.
  • We often suggest our 6 hour trip as the recommended length - with this length you have enough time to get farther away from the boat ramp and you will have a larger amount of shots at catching fish.
  • Our 8 hour (Full Day) trip is for the hardcore anglers. This trip length allows us to exhaust all of our options in finding the fish and exploring the waterways available to us.
  •
